There are restaurants everywhere and you can enjoy friendly and attentive service while enjoying a spectacular sunset or simply enjoying the warmth of Florida's weather. It is not expensive eating out here, but if you are prepared to pay a little more, there are some excellent restaurants in the area, particularly in Port Charlotte and Boca Grande. For those with children, the whole dining experience is made so much more enjoyable as they are always looked after and settled first.
Some of our favourites are:
THE FISHERIES, Placida - Famous for 'walk-ins, boat-ins, swim-ins, float-ins - always welcome! The windows overlook a tangled area of mangroves teaming with wildlife. Serving really good, fresh produce, particularly fish, well worth a visit.
CABBAGE KEY, Pineland - Reached only water or seaplane. Famous for its dollar bill bar where first time visitors leave a dollar bill. Look out for Manatee in the harbour.
CARRABAS ITALIAN GRILL, Great Italian Port Charlotte
PERKINS (the best breakfasts - you won't want to eat for the rest of the day!)
SOUTH BEACH, Boca Grande - Casual, ocean-side seafood dining, amazing sunsets. Music at weekends
LOCK N KEY, Manasota Beach - Fantastic coconut shrimp - excellent food, our favourite restaurant, two minute walk from the beautiful beach!
PRIME TIME, Rotonda - Mix of American and Mexican and Margaritas in goldfish bowls!
